Purchased with Byrne Grant Funding from the
Federal Government
Every Oakland Police Unit is equipped with a Mobile Data Terminal to
interface with FCIC/NCIC for near instantaneous Driver License, Vehicle
Registration, and Wanted Person Data, and for Mobile Dispatching via wireless
aircards through Orange County Sheriff's Office. Units designated as
"traffic units" are without light bars, but have interior strobe/LED
lighting and hide-away strobes.
The Oakland Police Department utilizes its "slick-top" vehicles actively participates in the State of Florida's
"Click it or Ticket" and the "You Drink & Drive you
Lose" and "Tri County Area Open Roads Policy" programs. All
Officers are consistently on the look out for safety concerns, and are required
to submit
