Students will utilize a Boomerang Folder to help them keep track of their weekly homework.
Basic math fact memorization is imperative to student success in second grade math and for the future. Each week, students will participate in a timed quiz for fact fluency. This is to ensure fact mastery. We ask that students practice their individualized facts throughout the week at home.
Second graders are also required to read 30 minutes per night in a book either assigned or of their choosing. Reading fluency and building reading stamina are two elements of reading that we are focusing on this year. Research has shown daily independent reading to be one of the most important factors in predicting student success in school. Please encourage your child to read daily and ask questions about what he/she is reading!
Homework will begin the third week of school. More information will be provided on bloomz.net.
