VOLUNTEER AT THE Healthy West Orange Arts AND Heritage Center

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center at the Town of Oakland! Volunteers are the core of the Center and help to promote the mission and programs we offer to the community. We are accepting volunteer applications at this time.

The Center is open Wednesday through Fridays from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturdays during special events and by appointment.

Opportunities to work as docents will be available for adults aged 18+ and students aged 16-18 (for community service hours). Duties include greeting visitors, event staffing, answering questions, data entry, folding brochures, collating mailings, and special projects as they arise. 

Normal operating hours will allow several options for volunteering during the week:

Volunteer applications are available at Town Hall, located at 230 N. Tubb St., the Center on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays or you may email Arts&Heritage@oaklandfl.gov. All applicants must consent to a criminal background check pursuant to Florida Statutes 435.04(2). The application includes a list of background criteria included in the search.

Upon completion and signature of the application, please forward the signed original in a sealed envelope to the Arts and Heritage Center, to Oakland Town Hall, email the applications to Arts&Heritage@oaklandfl.gov or mail it to:

If selected to volunteer, the Town HR Department will forward a link to you via email to provide information directly to our background check provider. Once the background check is complete, the Town will notify the applicant of their screening status. Cleared volunteer applicants will be contacted for an orientation and training session, and then scheduled for volunteer shifts.
